Art Progress

Art Production Optimization (September to October 2023):

As we transitioned from September to October, a singular challenge stood prominently before our art team: harmonizing the rapid scaling of gameplay design with the artistic demands of asset production. Our art maestros have always been at the forefront, endeavoring to ensure that the essence of Avarik Saga is vividly brought to life, both in form and movement.

A particular focus has been the optimization of our development pipeline. From the nascent stage of conceptual art to the final, breathtaking renderings, we've worked relentlessly to streamline this process. For our 3D virtuosos, the challenge has been magnified. With a burgeoning roster of characters, crafting unique animations and VFX has been the top mountain to climb.

The distinction between our 2D animations/illustrations and the chibi-style gameplay has added an intricate layer to our artistic narrative. Ensuring a cohesive visual story between these two mediums has been paramount. The aim? To craft an unmistakable visual link between the ethereal charm of the 2D assets and the dynamic vibrancy of the 3D assets. This bridge aids our players in immersing themselves effortlessly, allowing them to resonate deeply with their beloved characters and the world they inhabit.

We'd like to emphasize that our current designs, though meticulously crafted, remain fluid. The essence of game development is evolution, and we are unceasing in our pursuit to refine, reshape, and reimagine.

Scaling Production: Full Speed Ahead (September to October 2023)

Looking back at the transformative months leading to this moment, our primary objective, as detailed in Development Diary #6, was refining the gameplay mechanisms based on our insights from the previous 9 months of rigorous game testing. Our decision to transition away from the traditional game grid style emerged as a defining pivot. The updated design accentuates better navigational skills and ensures fluid character movements. These alterations have enhanced clarity for players, allowing them to grasp the game’s objectives and desired outcomes intuitively.

Skill Usage Optimization

With the green light glowing brightly on all these fronts, we’ve focused on enhancing the holistic user experience. This encompasses many elements: the refinement of in-game UX/UI, the richness of backgrounds, the animations accompanying skill triggers, and more. The broader vision is straightforward yet ambitious: we aim to roll out a polished, playable game for our community of eager testers.

From October to the remainder of 2023, our direction is firmly set, and our throttle is fully open. The pace of our development is set to surge, mirroring the enthusiasm we feel every time we engage with our community. The relentless support during the numerous testing phases, from the initial prototypes at the year’s dawn to the recent refinements as of September 2023, has been inspirational. In the wake of these intense testing and refining phases, we are accelerating toward an exciting horizon.
